I just bought a new plant, how big does my stake need to be?

A new plants trunk is not broken when your purchase it. So why give it a support if its stable by itself. More often than not, ties that hold the plant to the stake are not removed, resulting in poor sap flow which can lead to the death of the plant. If your plant however does need support make sure you use a flexible, natural product such as 'Jolly Tie' or something similar like a stocking. Larger plants that require staking should be staked with two or three stakes and several ties (Diagram 1A)
We will tell you if your tree needs staking when you purchase it.
